• Steamship Authority

For walk-on passengers and those with cars, the Steamship Authority operates out of Woods Hole, and has extensive parking nearby, which requires passengers to park and take a 10-minute shuttle to the port. The steamship will go to Vineyard Haven year-round, and includes Oak Bluffs mid-May to late October.

  • Island Queen

For walk-on passengers from Woods Hole, the Island Queen is our preferred ferry system. Parking is a quick walk to the ferry, the ship is smaller, and the boat staff make a great cocktail, if you’re so inclined.

  • Fly

Cape Air provides year-round service from Boston, and seasonal service from Westchester, Providence, and New Bedford. JetBlue and Delta offer direct service from New York's JFK to Memorial Day through Labor Day. American Airlines provides seasonal direct service from Reagan National in Washington, DC.

  • Island Bus

The Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA is an easy and dependable local bus service around the island, available from early morning to late evening. A ticket costs $2.00 from town to town, $7.00 for an unlimited all-day pass, $15.00 for a three-day pass, or $25.00 for a seven-day pass.

  • Bikes

The ferry systems allow visitors to easily bring bicycles over, whether as walk-on passengers or those with cars. If you’d like to rent a bicycle for the day or the duration of your stay, there are several island businesses based in Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven near both ferry ports. To name a couple, Pedego offers electric bikes, and All-Star has shops in Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. Description goes here

  • Mopeds

Truthfully, we aren’t wild about mopeds, given that there are a lot of issues every year regarding safety as well as general consideration towards both drivers and pedestrians… but if you want to rent one, there are several places on the island.

Please wear a helmet and be careful.
